Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Abbey Catholic Primary School is a thriving, oversubscribed two-form entry primary school rooted in the Parish of St. Thomas and Edmund of Campion, affectionately known as Erdington Abbey.
Our school’s mission, “Learning to Follow in the Footsteps of Jesus with our Friends, Family and Parish,” is at the heart of everything we do. This mission is lived out daily through our strong Catholic ethos and enriched by our distinctive Foundation curriculum, Building the Kingdom, which uniquely integrates Catholic Social Teaching into subjects like History, Geography, and Literacy. We nurture a warm, inclusive environment where pupils thrive spiritually, academically, and socially.
We are now seeking a passionate and dedicated Class Teacher to lead our Enhanced Learning Provision. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound difference to pupils who require a more personalised approach to learning, while being part of a committed, faith-driven school community.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils who are currently unable to access the mainstream classroom. You will champion their progress, wellbeing and reintegration, working collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver an adapted, engaging curriculum tailored to the individual needs of pupils within the Enhanced Learning Provision.
• Work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and SEND support staff in developing and implementing bespoke learning pathway and promoting successful reintegration into the mainstream setting.
• Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils.
• Monitor and respond to dysregulation and behaviours of concern, using reflective practice to increase pupil regulation and engagement.
• Collaborate with external agencies to ensure best practice and implement recommendations effectively.
• Support the SENCo with SSPP and EHCP applications, reviews and ongoing assessments.
• Provide outreach guidance and support to class teachers across the school to strengthen inclusive practice.
We are looking for a teacher who is:
• Compassionate, patient and committed to meeting the needs of vulnerable learners.
• Skilled in adapting teaching approaches to support a range of SEND needs.
• Reflective, resilient and proactive in seeking the best outcomes for pupils.
• Eager to contribute to our Catholic ethos and wider school community.
If you are ready to make a meaningful impact in a school where faith, community and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, we would love to hear from you.
