Highways Supervisor - Civils - Freelance

Your new role

Highways Supervisor required to work on highways maintenance across Sheffield helping to keep roads safe and efficient. Using cutting-edge innovations to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, as well as highway improvement schemes.

Duties include:

  • Oversee delivery of highway maintenance services, ensuring work meets contract requirements and customer expectations.
  • Plan, programme, and supervise all allocated works to specification and within agreed commercial limits.
  • Manage operational performance and margins from planning through on-site supervision.
  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety compliance, including toolbox talks and safe working practices.
  • Ensure all work follows company procedures, with accurate coding and documentation of changes.
  • Set and monitor objectives for time, cost, safety, and quality.
  • Lead and develop your team, providing training and support to operatives and apprentices.
  • Manage depot vehicles and plant.
  • Participate in emergency and winter maintenance activities.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in construction delivery and workforce supervision.
  • Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and efficiency.
  • Background in highway maintenance or relevant certifications (CSCS, NRSWA, SSSTS/SMSTS).
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • IT literacy, ideally with Microsoft Office.
