Summary

We are looking for a Ward Manager to play a key role within the management team and lead the day to day running of our 64 berth registered care home.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is home to around 300 British Army veterans. We are proud to deliver exceptional care built on belonging, respect, pride, and enjoying life. We are seeking a Ward Manager who leads by example and helps foster a warm, inclusive environment for both Pensioners and staff.

Confident clinical leadership is central to this role by ensuring high quality, person centred care and maintaining robust documentation and care planning. You will support staff in delivering personalised care, guide end of life pathways, and promote compassionate practice across the three wards.

Operational leadership is equally important. You will help keep the ward running safely and efficiently through managing staff rota effectively, maintaining safe staffing oversight, and participation in the Matron out of hours on call rota. As Ward Manager you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by turning audits and shared learning into meaningful development, strengthening safeguarding standards, and encouraging a reflective, supportive team environment.

To thrive in this role, you will bring strong leadership and communication skills, excellent organisational ability, and sound clinical knowledge in older persons’ care. Experience with CQC standards is essential, and additional leadership training is welcomed.

Applicants must be NMC registered with substantial Adult RGN post registration experience, up to date clinical competencies, and experience working with older adults, including those living with dementia, in hospital or care settings.

Important Information:
• Right to work in the UK is essential – unfortunately, the Royal Hospital Chelsea does not hold a sponsorship licence.
• Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

Why Join Us?
This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to be part of a proud legacy and contribute to the wellbeing of those who have served our country. You will be working in a supportive, respectful, and uplifting environment where every day brings the opportunity to make someone smile.
