Summary


The post holder will provide foot care treatment to patients assessed suitable by the Podiatrist within a hospital setting; community clinical settings, and patients’ own homes, as well as providing clerical and clinical support duties as required.

The Podiatry assistant will report directly to a Senior Podiatrist, who has supervisory responsibility for the Podiatry Assistant. The Senior Podiatrist reports to the Podiatry Clinical Lead based within the Podiatry Department

To implement foot care treatment plans for patients referred to Podiatry Assistant Clinics by the podiatrist and maintain adequate records of such treatments.

To make clinical judgments, regarding onward referral for further clinical investigation and treatment.

To manage the discharge of patients under their care, recognizing conditions outside their scope of practice, and to make the appropriate referrals.To undertake home visiting of patients assessed suitable by the podiatrist. Organizing and prioritizing patient caseload, determining best treatment options and modifying care plans according to needs for patients within scope of practice.
