Summary

HR Business Partner
Shrewsbury - Fully Office Based

Our client are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Business Partner to join their team in Shrewsbury. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping our people strategy and supporting managers across a diverse organisation.
Working closely with the Head of HR and the wider leadership team, you’ll provide hands-on HR support and guidance across employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and organisational development. You’ll partner with managers to promote consistent, fair, and legally compliant practices that help our teams deliver their best work.
Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Advisory
• Lead complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters.
• Provide clear, pragmatic, and compliant HR advice to managers at all levels.
• Prepare and review investigation reports and formal correspondence.
• Support organisational change and service development initiatives.

Recruitment & Compliance
• Oversee safer recruitment practices and ensure compliance across all sites.
• Manage pre-employment checks such as references and right-to-work
• Maintain and quality assure statutory HR records.

Absence & Welfare Management
• Monitor and analyse short- and long-term absence trends.
• Support managers with welfare and occupational health processes.
• Ensure return-to-work interviews and absence reviews are conducted to a high standard.

Leadership & Governance
• Line manages the HR Coordinator, providing coaching and professional support.
• Deputise for the Head of HR when required.
• Partner with Finance to ensure timely and accurate payroll information.
• Contribute to HR policy development, review and implementation.


The Ideal Candidate:
• CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards) or equivalent HR experience.
• Proven experience managing employee relations cases independently.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and safer recruitment principles.
• Background in a regulated environment such as education, care, or healthcare is desirable.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work on your own initiative, manage priorities effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
• A collaborative approach with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships across all teams.
