Summary


Are you anethnically diverse, aspiring Clinical Psychologist, who might otherwise be financially disadvantaged by volunteering schemes?Are you looking to develop the skills and knowledge required to apply to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology?



An exciting opportunity has arisen for a one-year fixed term Assistant Psychologist Internship in the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team in Trafford at Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust. The internship is part-time for 3.5 days per week for one year.



Data suggests that the ethnic diversity of undergraduate university psychology degree courses better reflects the ethnic diversity of the population in Greater Manchester (21.3%) as opposed to the Clinical Psychology workforce (9.6%).



As part of a collaboration with NHS England, we are offering a paid opportunity for ethnically diverse, aspiring clinical psychologists who might otherwise be financially disadvantaged by volunteering schemes.





The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.You will work as part of a friendly MDT, alongside a range of professionals, including CBT therapists and psychologists. We work mostly in community centres and in people’s own homes with young people aged 14 to 35 years.

The post holder will contribute to assessments of people who are referred to the service, provide group and individual interventions and evaluate the impact of the service. The role will provide you with key learning experiences that we hope will help you make a successful application for Clinical Psychology training.

The post holder will be based in Sale, Trafford and see people across the borough, which has a good network of public transport. You will receive supportive supervision and will be offered mentoring with other team members who have expertise in cultural sensitivity and culturally adapted therapy.We are very responsive to requests for flexible working. The post does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship in the UK.
