We're Hiring: Freelance Health & Safety Manager
Location: Perthshire

FREELANCE: £300 - £400 per day
Duration: 35 weeks
Fawkes & Reece is seeking an experienced EHS / CDM (Health & Safety Manager) to provide full-time, site-based Environmental, Health & Safety leadership for a refurbishment and process plant upgrade project.
Our client is appointed as Principal Contractor, providing construction coordination and CDM compliance management. The role is therefore compliance-focused rather than direct construction delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site EHS performance, CDM compliance, day to day subcontractor coordination and implementation of the client's safety systems.
The position will be supported by the clients central SHEQ and project management team.
Duties of the Freelance Health & Safety Manager include:
CDM / Principal Contractor Duties
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Construction Phase Plan
- Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015
- Coordinating subcontractor compliance under Principal Contractor appointment
- Monitoring welfare standards and site control measures
Site Safety Management
- Delivery of project inductions
- Review and approval of subcontractor RAMS
- Overseeing Permit to Work (PTW) system compliance
- Monitoring high-risk activities (hot works, confined space, lifting etc.)
- Daily site inspections and behavioural observations
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with FourTek business policies and procedures
Site Coordination
- Chairing or supporting morning coordination meetings
- Liaising with subcontractors regarding safe sequencing of works
- Escalating safety or compliance issues to Project Management
- Supporting 2-6 week lookahead planning from a safety perspective
Reporting
- Maintaining site safety records
- Producing weekly safety reports
- Logging observations, audits and actions within Procore (or equivalent system)
Required Qualifications/Experience as a Freelance Health & Safety Manager:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (preferred)
- TechIOSH / GradIOSH (minimum)
- First Aid at Work
- CSCS
- Experience operating under CDM 2015 as part of a Principal Contractor team
- Strong RAMS review capability
- Experience implementing PTW systems
- Experience within industrial / process plant / energy sector environments
- UK driving licence due to location
Working Hours
- Site Based - Full Time
- 07:30 - 17:00
- 30-minute unpaid break
- 9-hour working day
- 45 hours per week standard
- Additional hours are budgeted but subject to client approval
