Summary

The National Biosecurity Centre (NBC) Programme is an ambitious, 10–15-year programme working towards safeguarding and future-proofing the UK’s animal health science capability. The programme has recently secured significant funding towards transforming the Animal and Plant Health Agency’s (APHA) Weybridge scientific campus.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a priority Defra programme on the Government’s Major Projects Portfolio as a SharePoint Platform Architect.

The Programme is of significant national importance, and you would be joining a supportive and friendly team. As part of the NBC Programme Management Office, you will be the technical specialist for our Office 365 and MS Dynamic platforms, creating bespoke solutions to support our “one way of working” principle. You will report to the Information Management & Modelling Lead and be responsible for the programme’s SharePoint environment, our primary document store and collaboration platform. The role will design and develop the environment to operate and be administered effectively. There will be opportunities to take up learning and development tailored to your role enabling you to grow your current skills and build new ones.

Key responsibilities

Administration of the Programme O365 SharePoint environments, including design and development, user access requirements, and improvement initiatives

Management of user permissions and access controls in accordance with the NBC Security Policy

Security audits and reports

Promoting information/security management policies/best practice.

Working with NBC Programme Teams to lead their adoption of SharePoint Online/MS Teams

Lead/support the production/updating of training material and delivery training course and adoption activities.

Supporting IMM or DDTS projects to deploy new systems.

Provide advice and assistance to all areas of the NBC Programme business and acting as the service champion.

Undertake technical troubleshooting and research issues with the relevant manufacturers, vendors or the DEFRA Digital Technical Services (DDTS) Team as required

Provide regular feedback to your line manager on initiatives that would improve the service provided to the customers.

Escalate any emerging issues or risks to in a timely manner.

Being an advocate for Office 365, supporting the communications of benefits, new/improved ways of working and specific Office 365 functions

Keeping updated with changes to O365 and for developing strong knowledge about new O365 products
