If so, we would love to hear from you!
APHA is a brilliant place to work where our people feel valued, have a voice and can be their authentic selves. We value difference and diversity, because it helps us be more innovative and make better decisions.
We are dedicated to being an inclusive employer, offering equitable opportunities for all individuals. Our goal is to build a diverse workforce, and we hope to attract applications from all backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
We are looking for one individual to join the team. In this role, you will support the Business Manager in overseeing Operational Business Unit budgets, ensuring financial management that is both robust and transparent. You’ll work closely with cost centre managers and finance teams to keep budgets aligned with Service Level agreements (SLAs), including the timely submission of establishment lists and journal returns to Defra Group Finance. As part of a team of Executive Officers (EOs), you will help manage cost centre codes across Business Units while contributing to the planning and delivery of finance and risk activities, leading on specific projects and audits when required. The role also calls for resilience and the ability to respond effectively to business continuity needs or disease outbreak situations.
The core responsibilities of the role are, but are not limited to:
- To support the Business Manager in the collation of all budget and forecasting. This includes financial management activities including requisition approvals, expenditure tracking, and income monitoring.
- To ensure that financial work processes are developed consistently and in line with policy. This includes investigation of financial variances, completing month-end financial tasks under tight deadlines.
- Take responsibility of overseeing the Administrative Officer (AO) work for month-end journals and ensure quality assurance before submission.
- To maintain internal controls to ensure financial evidence meets audit and compliance standards.
- Line and functional management responsibilities, including performance management, quality assurance and effective leadership.
