Summary
About Us
Twist & Flip Gymnastics Academy is a well-established, values-led gymnastics club delivering structured, high-quality sessions to children each week. We currently support over 600 members and place strong emphasis on safety, consistency, confidence-building, and a positive experience for families and staff.
As the academy has grown, we are strengthening our operational structure to reduce founder-led day-to-day management and support the next stage of development.
The Opportunity
We are creating a dedicated Operations Lead role to take ownership of the day-to-day running of sessions, staffing, and operational standards, allowing the Founder to step away from daily delivery.
This is an hourly-paid leadership role with clear operational authority during working hours. During your shifts, you will act as the senior operational decision-maker on site, trusted to run sessions independently within agreed standards and systems.
This role suits someone who enjoys being relied upon — supporting staff, solving problems in real time, and ensuring the club runs smoothly and professionally across the week.
This is an operations leadership role (not a senior coaching position).
Gymnastics experience is helpful, but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
Session Operations & Duty Lead
Act as Duty Lead during sessions, ensuring they run safely, smoothly, and on time
Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and make live adjustments when required
Uphold consistent standards of safety, professionalism, and delivery
Staffing, Rotas & Cover
Coordinate rotas, timetables, and weekly scheduling
Manage short-notice staff absences and cover arrangements
Support staff professionalism, timekeeping, and expectations
Parent Communication & Issue Handling
Act as a point of contact for parent queries during sessions
Handle concerns calmly, professionally, and consistently
Escalate issues appropriately where required
Admin & Operational Coordination
Support day-to-day operational admin during your working hours
Keep brief records of issues, actions taken, and recurring themes
Provide short weekly updates to the Founder / Director
Additional Responsibilities (as required)
Support onboarding of new members and ensure a consistent customer experience
Assist with session planning and timetable coordination
Support delivery of holiday activities, events, parties, or additional sessions
Oversee basic equipment checks and facility readiness
Ensure safeguarding, safety, and reporting procedures are followed consistently
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for someone who is:
Calm under pressure and confident leading during live sessions
Highly organised, reliable, and consistent
Comfortable making decisions and directing staff
Strong in communication (in person, phone, and email)
Experienced in operations, education, childcare, customer service, or sport
Gymnastics experience is helpful but not essential.
This Role Is Not Suitable If You:
Prefer an advisory or assistant role
Are uncomfortable making live operational decisions
Are looking for a low-pressure or desk-based position
Need to combine the role with childcare during working hours
What We Offer
A stable, full-time leadership role with real responsibility and trust
Clear standards, structure, and expectations
Support and handover from the Founder / Director
A positive, community-based working environment
Opportunity to develop as the academy grows
Availability Requirements
Applicants must be available to work a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours as part of this role. This will include regular weekday evenings and Saturday sessions, alongside some daytime hours to support operational and administrative duties.
Consistency and reliability across these core operating times are essential for the role.
