We are seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to ensure the safe, compliant and competent delivery of facility services across the contract.
This role supports the Regional Facilities Manager (RFM) and plays a key part in maintaining an excellent and reliable workplace experience for all users of the building.
Job Description
We are looking for someone who can confidently oversee site maintenance, respond calmly to daily operational challenges, and support a team of Placemakers working across a regional area.
The role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to think clearly under pressure and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe, compliant and fully operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the delivery of all planned, reactive and corrective maintenance activities.
Lead, support and develop a small facilities team, including rostering, welfare, recruitment and performance management.
Act as a daily point of contact for emergencies and escalations, ensuring swift, calm and effective response (e.g., fire alarms).
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, onsite security, cleaning teams, supply chain partners and specialist contractors.
Manage subcontractor activity, including permit control, paperwork checks and escorting where required.
Conduct quality audits and support technical, cleaning and environmental audit activity.
Complete management-task PPMs and assist with PPMs and remedial works when needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation such as audits, COSHH, SOPs and health & safety records.
Ensure all sites are effectively staffed through proactive rostering and absence cover.
Ensure the building remains safe, compliant and fully available for all users at all times.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Experience working within a facilities, engineering or cleaning services environment.
Proven supervisory and organisational skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently while following guidance from management.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across teams and suppliers.
Demonstrates an understanding of how high-quality service delivery contributes to contract success.
Calm under pressure, proactive and able to respond logically and effectively to emergency situations.
