About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Support Manager to work with the Operations Manager in leading and directly line managing a support team in Essex, SS8 to deliver the highest quality of support to a group of adults with learning disabilities in their own homes.
You will lead as an exemplary role model to achieve outstanding, personalised support, and high levels of regulatory compliance, ensuring our customers are at the heart of all we do, and their needs are met. Ensuring your team feel valued and supported, providing them with a full understanding of what is expected of them and giving them the skills and tools to undertake their role to the best of their abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate a team of Support Workers to deliver exceptional, person‑centred care
- Be a positive role model, ensuring customers are always at the heart of what we do
- Support individuals with mental health needs and learning disabilities
- Build strong relationships with customers, families, and external partners
- Manage staff performance, resolve issues, and promote development
- Oversee quality, compliance, risk assessments, and crisis management
- Ensure full adherence to policies, regulations, GDPR, and the DPA 2018
- Work flexibly, including occasional weekends, bank holidays, or sleep-ins
- Contribute to service improvements and business growth
- Participate in a rolling on‑call rota (one week at a time, including evenings and weekends) to support regional emergency escalations, with additional pay for each on‑call day.
Person Specification Essential:
- 2+ years’ experience in adult care, supporting people with mental health needs and learning disabilities
- Proven team leadership and staff management experience in health & social care
- Strong knowledge of person‑centred practice and complex mental health needs
- Confident IT skills, including digital care systems
- Able to work under pressure, manage time well, and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Committed to ongoing learning and professional development
- Business development mindset with a drive to grow services
- Full UK driving licence
- NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to achieve)
Desirable:
- Experience working alongside Support Managers and Operations Managers in a similar role
- Understanding of health and social care compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
