Summary

Are you passionate about preparing fresh, nutritious meals and creating a warm, welcoming environment for older people? Bield Housing & Care is looking for a committed Cook to deliver a flexible, high-quality meals service that supports the wellbeing and independence of our tenants.

About the Role:
As the Cook, you’ll be responsible for providing freshly prepared meals that offer both quality and value for money. You’ll work within a set food budget, ensuring all hygiene and safety standards are met and promoted throughout the development.

Hours: 24.5 per week

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals daily as part of a collaborative team.
• Consult with tenants individually and in groups to understand their preferences and dietary needs.
• Create menus in partnership with tenants, accommodating cultural, health, and dietary requirements.
• Order, purchase, and store food supplies, maintaining accurate records.
• Manage income and expenditure receipts in line with Bield’s procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to food hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Carry out regular deep cleaning of kitchen equipment.
• Support and advise new staff, volunteers, and casual workers on kitchen safety protocols.
• Report any concerns about tenants related to the meals service to the Manager.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and daily communications.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Manager.

About You:
• A genuine interest in supporting older people.
• Experience in catering or food preparation (desirable).
• Awareness of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
