This role covers prisons and community sites across the region so ability to travel is a key requirement of the role.

Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, its possible. Thats where you come in.

Were looking for a Through the Gate Coordinator - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isnt just about offering advice; its about rolling up your sleeves and pro-actively supporting someone on their journey.

This is a demanding role; you'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and you see them take real steps toward transforming their life, its a great feeling.

About the Role:

As part of this role, you will support a caseload of service users transitioning from custody to the community. Youll meet individuals in prison to begin planning their support in collaboration with their Support Worker, tailoring action plans to their specific needs. Post-release, youll continue to guide them, connecting them with the full range of available services and support.

Your work will take you across various settings-including prisons, community hubs, and probation offices-so flexibility and adaptability are essential. Youll collaborate closely with pre-release teams, probation services, and internal departments to provide holistic, person-centred support throughout their journey.

The role requires excellent multitasking skills, as youll manage several service users at once, ensuring each receives the attention and guidance they need. Detailed and accurate record-keeping is critical, as measurable progress is central to our work.

While youll often have the autonomy to plan your own schedule, strong prioritisation skills are a must-situations can change quickly, and no two days will be the same. This is a challenging but deeply rewarding role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Community-based support: You will guide individuals as per their action plan, helping them reintegrate through practical activities, from housing and employment to mental health and social connections.
  • Collaboration: Your intervention may be part of a wider support package so collaborating with internal and external colleagues is a key part of the role.
  • Caseload management: Youll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
  • Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT systems, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and progress is properly tracked.

What Were Looking For:

  • Relationship Building: Youre able to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a way thats genuine, promotes a sense of trust and is non-judgmental, with particular attention to confidentiality and maintenance of boundaries.
  • Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks. You will be fully supported following any challenging interventions.
  • IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
  • Organisation: You can handle a busy caseload and stay on top of detailed records.
  • Resilience: This role can be challenging, and results may take time, but you are the kind of person who stays committed and sees things through.
  • Flexibility: Youll need to be comfortable with change, as referral flows change frequently.

Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. As we wait for the necessary background checks to be completed, youll have plenty of opportunities to shadow your colleagues, ask questions, and learn the ropes.

At Ingeus, weve spent time listening to our employees to build our benefits package;

  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to trade for additional leave.
  • EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
