Are you an experienced Carpenter looking to make a real difference in your local community? We are looking for skilled and motivated individuals to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, delivering high‑quality carpentry work across a range of domestic and public buildings.This is an exciting opportunity to use your expertise in a role where no two days are the same-carrying out repairs, maintenance, and installations that directly support residents and service users.
About the Role
As a Carpenter, you will carry out a wide variety of carpentry tasks, including responsive repairs, planned work, and emergency maintenance. You'll work in properties such as general needs housing, sheltered schemes, care homes, and occasionally in more complex or bespoke buildings.
Duties:
- Complete carpentry repairs, installations, and maintenance to a high professional standard
- Ensure all work complies with industry regulations and Health & Safety requirements
- Carry out associated preparation, finishing, and complementary tasks
- Undertake diagnostics, inspections, and problem‑solving as required
- Maintain ongoing skills, accreditations, and professional development
- Meet performance targets and contribute to excellent customer satisfaction
Essential Skills & Experience
- NVQ/SVQ Level 2 in Carpentry, City & Guilds, or equivalent trade experience
- Time‑served craftsperson or proven experience in carpentry
- Experience in maintenance, installations, and renewals across domestic and/or non‑domestic properties
- Strong understanding of safe working practices, risk assessments, and compliance
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
- Good customer care approach with clear communication skills
- GDPR awareness and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Full UK driving licence
- CSCS card or equivalent
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in public‑sector or social housing
- Experience working in commercial or industrial buildings
- Use of digital/handheld work systems
