Summary
Residential Childcare Worker - Children's Home
Location: Canterbury
Salary: £32k per annum (+ Overtime)
Shifts: 7.30am-1030pm + 1 sleep in per week
Hours: 45 hours per week (one day on, one day off + 1 sleep in per week)
We are recruiting Residential Childcare Workers to join a brand new home, that provide care for children with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD).
About the home
The home is a beautiful 5 bedded house located in Canterbury, around 5 minutes away from Kent & Canterbury Hospital. Their are good bus routes to the service, and Canterbury East station is a 20minute walk away. The home has a large garden, with a chicken coupe, herb and vegetable patch, and space to develop more facilities. The home itself has been refurbished to a high spec, creating a warm, homely and spacious environment for the young people. There is a games room, workout room, large spacious modern kitchen, and two bathrooms.
About The Role
You will provide consistent care, guidance and emotional support to young people who may have experienced trauma and disruption. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help create a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.
Building positive, trusting relationships
Supporting education, routines and activities
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Encouraging independence and life skills
Contributing to care planning and accurate record keeping
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
Experience working with children or young people (residential desirable but not essential)
Resilience, patience and a calm approach
Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins
Commitment to safeguarding and professional development
Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards) is desirable.
