Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in Motor Vehicle studies across a range of levels within a Further Education setting. The postholder will inspire and motivate learners, ensuring they develop the technical skills, knowledge, and professional behaviours required for progression into employment or further study within the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons in motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
Teach across a range of qualifications (e.g. Level 1-3 Diplomas, Apprenticeships, T Levels where applicable).
Deliver both theoretical and practical workshop-based sessions.
Differentiate teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs.
Integrate English and maths within vocational delivery where appropriate.
Assess student work in line with awarding body requirements (e.g. City & Guilds, IMI, Pearson/BTEC).
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support learner progress.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement.
Participate in internal verification and quality assurance processes.
Contribute to preparation for Ofsted inspections in line with Ofsted requirements.
Act as a personal tutor to a group of learners, providing academic and pastoral support.
Monitor and track learner progress, implementing intervention strategies where required.
Support students in developing employability skills and industry readiness.
Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge in line with modern vehicle technologies (e.g. hybrid and electric vehicles, diagnostics, ADAS systems).
Develop and update curriculum materials to reflect current automotive industry standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers and apprenticeship providers.
Support employer engagement activities and work placement coordination.
Participate in staff meetings, CPD activities, and standardisation events.
Work towards or maintain a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd) if not already held.
Adhere to college policies including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality legislation.
Contribute to marketing events such as open days and school liaison activities.
