Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Carpentry and Joinery across a range of levels (Entry Level to Level 3), supporting learners to achieve their qualifications and develop the technical, professional and employability skills required for progression into industry or higher-level study.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging theory and practical lessons in Carpentry and Joinery.
Teach across programmes such as City & Guilds and/or EAL qualifications.
Embed Maths and English into vocational delivery in line with UK FE requirements.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of diverse learners, including apprentices and full-time students.
Use digital learning platforms (e.g. Moodle or equivalent VLE) to support delivery.
Assess, internally verify and provide constructive feedback on learners' work in line with awarding body standards.
Prepare learners for practical assessments and End Point Assessment (EPA) where applicable.
Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance and achievement in line with college policies.
Contribute to internal quality assurance processes and External Quality Assurance visits.
Act as a personal tutor, providing academic and pastoral support.
Monitor learner progress and implement interventions where required.
Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and professionalism.
Support learners with progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study.
Contribute to curriculum planning and development to meet local labour market needs.
Maintain strong links with local employers and industry partners.
Ensure workshop environments meet current industry standards and health & safety regulations.
Participate in open evenings, recruitment events and employer engagement activities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry practices and developments in the construction sector.
Engage in continuous professional development (CPD).
Comply with safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity, and health & safety policies.
Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Construction department and across the college.
