About the Direct Payment Holder Our children are at a special school and have autism and learning difficulties and we require a personal assistant to assist them in all areas of personal and social life, both at home and in the community. Your role is to enable our children to lead an individual and independent life in their own home. So, whenever applicable teach them things and encourage rather than doing things for them. You must be reliable, able to work flexible hours, you must respect our privacy and understand the need for confidentiality. You will work under our direction you are accountable to us and you should respond to our requests.

Hours and rate of pay

£13.50 to £14 per hour depending on experience
Up to 20 hours per week. Days and times to be agreed in advance
Location Hatfield (AL10)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Adults
• Introduction to first aid
• Health and Safety

What you would be doing… The work involves some or all of the following tasks. Some tasks will be daily, others weekly. As their needs vary, it is important that you are flexible about the work and agree to undertake other reasonable tasks
To help us with any chosen activity, inside or outside the home,
• Assist to get into and out of car
• Assist with getting to and taking part in social activities Personal Assistant’s General Responsibilities
• Respect our family
• Arrive at the agreed time, ready to work
• Give as much notice as possible if you are going to be late or can’t come
• Discuss any problems with us as soon as possible Respect our possessions /equipment and use them only with our consent
Required skills and experience Support with dressing and undressing
Showering/bathing
Assistance with using the toilet and toilet training
Assistance with hair, skin etc.
My children do not have much awareness of danger, so you need to make sure that you hold their hands when walking in public busy places and places that are not secured with gates and fencing.
Whilst in the home to ensure all doors are secure to ensure the children are unable to get out on their own.
Keys must be removed from the doors
My children need constant supervision to ensure their safety as they are likely to put objects in their month, climb on furniture, on windowsills and to the highest point on any climbing apparatus
The children occasionally get overwhelmed and upset. You will need to guidance from us as to how to handle this.
Preparation and cooking of food and drinks if required and clearing up
