Hastings is an ambitious, and progressive Council, and Environmental Health and Licensing are essential and valued services at the core of our public protection and community safety work.
We are ideally looking to recruit someone who is experienced and technically competent in all aspects of Environmental Health, and particularly in Environmental Protection. You will need to be an excellent communicator and happy to embrace a more generic approach to delivering services in our historic seaside town. We changed the way we deliver our services by combining Environmental Health and Licensing into a single generic Team. This has helped us offer a more effective and flexible service for residents and businesses, as well as providing a more rewarding range of work for officers.
This diverse and challenging role provides a great opportunity to make a real difference to people’s health and well-being and there will be variety and opportunities to stretch your capabilities, and the successful candidate will play a central role in the delivery of the Environmental Health and Licensing Team’s objectives.
A full driving licence is essential for this post which also attracts a separate car benefit allowance of £2,278 as is a willingness to work outside of normal office hours from time to time. There’s also the added opportunity to participate in our emergency out of hours on call service, which attracts a standby payment of £10,154.88 per annum.
In addition to support with training and personal development, we operate family friendly flexible and hybrid/home working policies, option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, opportunities for training, learning and continuous professional development, car benefit allowance and generous annual leave package.
For an informal discussion or for further information please contact Ian Wheeler, Environmental Health Manager on 01424 783230.
