Your new opportunity
We are currently recruiting for full time Senior Transition Mentor to join our Quarriers Stopover Service in Glasgow. At Stopover, we provide supported accommodation for young people aged 16–25 who are taking the next steps towards independent living. Each young person has their own fully equipped bedsit, and we work closely with them to build the life skills and confidence they need to move on to less supported accommodation or secure a tenancy of their own.
Many of the young people we support have experienced adverse childhood experiences, including mental health challenges, trauma, addictions, and involvement with the criminal justice system. You’ll be part of a caring, consistent, and trauma-informed team making a real difference every day.
'The Promise' is that Scotland's children and young people will grow up loved, safe and respected. As a Senior Transition Mentor you will be expected to embrace this approach to the support you deliver. You will work closely with staff and the young people exploring opportunities for them within employment, education and community integration. You will provide guidance and support to ensure they are safe and feel heard.
This is a permanent, full time role offering 39 hours per week.
What you will need to bring to the role
Previous experience working in a similar setting.
Compassion and kindness to support young people who are homeless.
Enthusiasm and self-motivation.
Ability to apply transferable life experience and skills to support and enable individuals.
Excellent problem solver who is driven by positive outcomes.
Resilient, reliable and an excellent listener.
Good IT & communication skills.
