Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant in Medical Oncology with a Breast subspecialty to join our dynamic and forward‑thinking team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, based primarily at Northwick Park Hospital. This is a substantive, full‑time post with 10 Programmed Activities (PAs); however, PAs are negotiable and can be discussed at the time of interview.
The successful candidate will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care across a range of oncology services, with a primary focus on breast cancer. They will also have the opportunity to develop a special interest within the breast tumour site and contribute to service development in line with Trust priorities.
You will join a well‑established and collaborative department delivering outpatient chemotherapy, acute oncology and palliative care across multiple sites. The Trust is committed to innovation, research and continuous improvement, with strong links to Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Imperial College Healthcare and RM Partners Cancer Alliance.

As Consultant in Medical Oncology (Breast), you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred cancer care across London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Responsibilities include:
1. Breast Oncology & General Medical Oncology Duties
• Provide specialist care for patients with breast cancer, including assessment, treatment planning and ongoing management.
• Support the Acute Oncology Service (AOS), ensuring timely, high‑quality care for patients admitted with cancer‑related complications.
• Collaborate effectively with CNS teams, chemotherapy nursing staff, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver coordinated care across all sites.
• Review systemic anti‑cancer therapy (SACT) prescriptions, assess patients for treatment, and contribute to clinical trials activity.
• Provide on‑site clinical support to the Chemotherapy Suite and Clinical Trials Unit when required.
2. Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Participation
• Actively participate in the weekly Breast MDT and other relevant tumour‑site meetings.
• Work closely with surgical, radiology, pathology, and allied health colleagues to deliver seamless, evidence‑based cancer pathways.
3. Medical Staff Supervision & Education
• Support the training, supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff, Trust doctors and non‑consultant grades.
• Participate in recruitment processes for junior staff, as delegated.
• Promote a high‑quality learning environment and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
