Summary
The Consultant Trauma & General Surgeon will provide high-quality care to patients in Major Trauma and General Surgery, maintaining GMC specialist registration and the competencies required for independent consultant practice. Clinical duties include leading the assessment and management of severely injured patients, delivering damage control surgery, managing emergency and elective general surgical patients, and ensuring prompt attendance at agreed Direct Clinical Care programmed activities. The post holder will contribute to teaching and training of medical students, trainees and other healthcare professionals, act as an educational supervisor as delegated, and support research and innovation in line with Trust and academic priorities. They will participate in clinical audit, incident reporting, governance activities and service improvement, and work with clinical and managerial colleagues to optimise quality, safety, efficiency and patient experience.
