Summary
Please see individual attached JD for each role. 80% of your post is clinical: Working in the ED with direct shop floor supervision from our 18 consultants, 2 Associate Specialists, 1 consultant nurse, and joining an increasing team of experienced ED middle grades/registrars in training. You will be working alongside and supporting a large team of clinicians including trust doctors, FY2, ACCS and GP trainees, ST3 and RCEM credentialled ACPs and those in training. The post offers protected weekly departmental teaching and benefits from educational supervision by a consultant as well as many other educational opportunities on shift. A typical day may see you involved in Stroke Thrombolysis, PPCI for STEMI, Major Trauma (as a busy trauma unit) and Acute Paediatrics as well as Minor Injuries. You will work 80% of your hours on a full shift rota on our middle grade rota which involves weekends at 1:3 ratio. (Pro rata if less than full time) and night shifts. All night shifts should have 2 senior decision makers/Registrars. There are opportunities to get involved in all aspects of ED including governance, management, teaching, ultrasound, and others. We will support applications for an OOPE/OOPC. **We are hoping to also relaunch a 80:20 fellowship in Global Health where we have already built links with an Emergency Department in Gulu, Northern Uganda. This role would involve 3 day pre-deployment training, and an opportunity to travel for 6 weeks to Northern Uganda where you would be involved in quality improvement but not direct clinical care supported by a senior clinician. This is not part of the currently advertised roles. Please contact dan.wattley@nhs.net if interested in the global health fellowship role.
