North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking colleague to join our Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity to support the next stage of our development as we evolve and grow.
NSEC Ltd is a wholly owned trading company of North Somerset Council and operates as a Local Authority Trading Company (LATCo). We focus on delivering high-quality, sustainable waste management, recycling, and highways maintenance services while providing best value to residents, communities and businesses across North Somerset.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and long-term success of NSEC. You will bring constructive challenge, support and independent oversight, ensuring the Company continues to deliver high-quality services, strong commercial performance and measurable community benefit. We are seeking an individual who shares our commitment to delivering sustainable, community focused services and who can provide advice, scrutiny and oversight to the Board and senior leadership.
We are particularly interested in candidates with one of more of the following:-
Significant private‑sector leadership experience with a strong track record in commercial business development and/or environmental or customer‑facing services
Strong financial and business acumen, including experience of strategic planning, business modelling and performance management
Understanding of digital strategy and technology‑enabled service delivery, and the role of digital transformation in operational and customer improvement
Experience in service‑focused environments such as waste, environmental services, facilities management or related sectors
Understanding of good governance practices and the role of a Board; previous NED experience is welcome but not essential
The Board will take responsibility for oversight of business performance and assurance.
