Summary
(Female) Carer / Support Worker – Dementia Care
Are you a kind, patient carer who understands dementia and wants to make a real difference each week? We are looking for a compassionate Carer to support an elderly client living with dementia in TN10 4HZ.
The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the well-being and independence of clients through personalised support and assistance. This paid role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives while developing your skills within the caring profession.
Hours: Tuesday – 10:00am to 11:00am
(Consistent weekly visit – ideal to top up existing hours)
The Role
Assist the client with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
Support with medication administration following prescribed care plans
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
Monitor and record patients’ health status and behaviour management needs
Provide emotional support and companionship to minimise feelings of loneliness or isolation
Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
Follow care plans accurately and update records as required
Recognise and respond appropriately to medical emergencies using first aid skills when necessary
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and case managers to deliver holistic care
What we're looking for
Proven experience in care environments is essential
Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
Good communication skills, patience, and empathy are essential for building trusting relationships with clients
Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards clients of all needs
Excellent organisational skills in managing care plans and case management documentation
Experience with Alzheimer’s, dementia, hospice care, or behaviour management is advantageous
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for client transfers or mobility assistance
First aid certification, highly desirable but can be provided during training if necessary
