Summary
Lincolnshire Community Health Services has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional professional to apply for the post of Specialist Safeguarding Nurse/Practitioner. Our Safeguarding and Vulnerabilities Team are looking for aself-motivated and enthusiasticindividual with post-registration safeguarding experience, who is passionate and committed to improving outcomes for both vulnerable children and adults. LCHS are part of the Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals Group (LCHG) working in partnership with United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals to ensure high quality of care across Lincolnshire community and hospital settings.Since the formation of the Group both safeguarding teams now work in partnership providing greater oversight of our vulnerable client groups.
To support the Group Director of Safeguarding, Named Nurse Safeguarding Adults and Group Named Nurse Safeguarding Children in the execution of statutory roles and responsibilities.
To promote quality and effectiveness of health workers responses to safeguard children and adults at risk.
To work as a specialist practitioner providing supervision, advice, and training to staff around safeguarding.
To take part in developing and implementing policies and procedures and audit in partnership with other organisations
To demonstrate active leadership skills in the management of safeguarding within multiagency setting.
To interpret and apply relevant, up to date research to clinical practice in consultation with the senior safeguarding team.
To promote high standards of practice relating to the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk in all areas of service provision.

To ensure that Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust and the Group are compliant with statutory requirements in relation to Children and Adults Safeguarding.
To support the Named Nurses in providing regular assurance to the Group Board regarding the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements within Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals Group.
To provide specialised knowledge, guidance and support to all staff within Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust and Group regarding safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
To ensure continual commitment and proactive working with strategic and operational safeguarding boards locally and regionally.
To provide leadership and influence in further development of safeguarding internally and across partnerships
To provide Safeguarding Children and supervision, as per safeguarding children supervision policy.
To provide support and advice on complex situations with staff to develop competence and confidence in the management of safeguarding cases.
Ability to analyse and interprets complex highly confidential and sensitive information from multi-agencies in order to enable appropriate safeguarding decisions to be reached.
To analyse and interpret relevant clinical records in relation to the sharing of information required within the safeguarding process and advice managers accordingly.
To facilitate and ensure appropriate support to staff who are required to provide information to the Police, Solicitors, Courts and their appointed officers.
The specialist application of childcare law knowledge and government guidance in order to promote the health, wellbeing and safety of children.
The application of appropriate legislation in relation to promoting the health wellbeing and safety of adults.
To identify clinical practice issues encountered during execution of their role and advice appropriate manager.
To respond to internal safeguarding incidents (Datix) and escalate as required in order applying specialist safeguarding knowledge and skills.
To be involved in all safeguarding related investigations to apply specialist safeguarding knowledge and skills.
The post holder is required to utilise the highest level of skill in relaying sensitive, highly confidential, complex, and contentious information
To conduct internal management reviews/investigations and serious case reviews/Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews under the direction of the Group Director of Safeguarding and Named Nurses ensuring that recommendations are implemented at an operational level.
To provide specialist safeguarding training within LCHS and externally by arrangement.
To develop and produce timely reports, including trend analysis, risk assessment, service development and evaluation of audit and reviews.
To deputise for senior safeguarding team as required
To undertake any other duties appropriate to post remit.
To identify the need for and utilise specialist legal health professional advice as appropriate.
To provide support to staff during legal proceedings within area of expertise
To advise the application of NSF and Health Quality Standards for Child Protection and undertake regular audit of Child Protection practice, working closely with the Clinical Governance Department within the trust.
Personal development: maintain and develop own clinical skills and expertise etc for PREP NMC registration.
