Are you passionate about the environment and good with people? We need you on our team…
We are looking to recruit a new waste awareness and enforcement advisor to help encourage people in mid-Powys to make good choices, reduce the amount of rubbish they generate and recycle as much as possible. Your job will involve getting out and about undertaking community engagement and educating people to recycle more, this
may include door knocking, home visits, attending events, school visits and activities to promote reducing, reusing and recycling initiatives. Where necessary this may also involve taking legal action against people who dispose of waste inappropriately, helping us to clamp down on littering and fly tipping and make Powys even cleaner and greener. This is the perfect job for those who enjoy getting out and about, engaging
with communities and making a positive contribution towards helping to protect people and the planet.
About you:
• passionate about environmental issues
• knowledgeable about recycling and waste prevention
• experienced in dealing with members of the public, face to face
• you will have excellent interpersonal skills and significant experience of
undertaking a public facing role with high levels of customer service, especially face to face, dealing with all local enquiries, complaints, community engagement and events for the service. This can include high levels of confidentiality dealing with personal information from customers in need of additional support and undertaking criminal enforcement investigations and some enquiries which may
be politically sensitive and come with a high degree of customer expectation around a highly visible, popular, statutory service.
What you will do:
• Undertake marketing activities to encourage residents to reduce the amount of rubbish they produce
• Undertake home visits and waste audits to help people to recycle more
• Helping to deliver receptacles to encourage people to recycle more
• Undertake community engagement activities to promote uptake of the service
• Undertake enforcement activities, where necessary to correct inappropriate behaviour
This position has a requirement for a Basic Check and to complete pre-employment checks aligned with the Baseline Personal Security Standard
