Summary
Neway International are seeking a Tree Officer – Manual Labour to join our client based with Plymouth City Council.
Location: Prince Rock Depot, Macadam Road, Prince Rock, Plymouth, Devon, PL4 0RZ
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 02 March 2026
End Date: 12 Weeks from start, likely to be extended.
Pay Rates:
• PAYE: £17.47 per hour
• Limited/Umbrella: £22.82 per hour
About the Client
Plymouth City Council’s Street Services division is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the city’s outdoor environment. The Arboriculture Team supports the management, safety, and long‑term health of Plymouth’s tree stock, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and delivering high‑quality public services.
The Role
Working within the Arboriculture Team, you will provide professional assessments and operational support across the Council’s tree stock. You will contribute to the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient arboriculture services, supporting the Team Leader in prioritising and allocating work for the Arborist Team. This role involves both office‑based assessment work and manual labour on site.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out professional tree inspections and assessments across Plymouth City Council’s tree stock
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, Health & Safety procedures, and corporate standards
• Support the Team Leader in planning, prioritising, and allocating work programmes
• Provide arboriculture expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records in line with service area performance targets and standard operating procedures
• Deliver high‑quality customer care in all interactions
• Undertake manual labour tasks associated with arboriculture operations
Candidate Requirements
• QTRA (Qualified Tree Risk Assessment) registered user
• NCH in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience working within arboriculture services
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable with a varied work pattern across office and onsite environments
