Summary

About This Opportunity

The position supports the Shift Leader with the planning and control of a warehouse shift's transactions. The Shift Planner is the Shift Leader's deputy and will stand in for the Shift Leader when required, for instance holidays and sickness. It requires good procedure creation and awareness, with a focus on planning, performance metrics, and process improvement. Is responsible for the efficient planning of warehouse operations whilst ensuring safety standards are met. The role demands strong resource planning skills, including excellent communication (both verbal and written) as the planner is both responsible for controlling the allocation of work to operatives to ensure that the warehouse operates efficiently and effectively and for the administration of customers collecting from the warehouse. The ability to train others and explore continuous improvement opportunities is also important.

The working pattern for this role is 5:30 am - 2:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Lead and Motivate

  • Maintain clean, organised workspaces and ensure compliance with all procedures and regulations.

Manage Workload and Resources

  • Plan and allocate resources, including employees, equipment, and materials to meet operational demands.
  • Analyse daily workloads, shipment schedules, and inventory to optimise efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless warehouse operations.

Schedule and Problem-Solve

  • Create and adjust employee schedules to maintain full coverage and meet deadlines.
  • Quickly resolve operational issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.

Monitor Performance and Inventory

  • Track KPIs such as order accuracy, picking speed, and shipping times.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records.

Train and Develop Your Team

  • Provide onboarding, training, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Support employee development to build skills, confidence, and career growth.
