Summary

You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative finance team where your work truly makes an impact. As an Assistant Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a key role in helping the Trust deliver its financial responsibilities—supporting budget setting, budget monitoring and year end processes.

This is the ideal next step if you already have experience working in finance and you’re keen to deepen your expertise while working toward a professional accountancy qualification. You’ll be part of a team that values accuracy, partnership working, and continuous improvement and we will provide you with a comprehensive package of support and training

What will you be doing?

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

  • Provide clear, professional financial advice and support to budget managers, helping them understand and manage their budgets effectively.
  • Support monthly budget monitoring, annual budget setting and yearend closure activities, ensuring key deadlines are met.
  • Analyse and interpret complex financial data—using forecasting models, reconciliations and other tools—to highlight risks and inform decision making.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the Trust, becoming a trusted financial partner.
  • Assist with grant returns and the maintenance of accurate financial records throughout the year.
  • Support business case appraisals by analysing financial information and offering insight to help shape future plans.
  • Contribute to wider finance projects and play your part in ensuring the Trust meets changing accounting and reporting requirements.
  • You’ll be part of a flexible working environment that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

About you

You’re someone who enjoys working with numbers just as much as you enjoy working with people. You can analyse data confidently and present information in a way that’s clear and easy to understand.

You are AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent) or are committed to studying a recognised finance qualification.

You have experience working in a finance environment, with solid numeracy skills and attention to detail.

Communicating effectively with both financial and nonfinancial stakeholders is something you excel at

You are confident using IT systems, especially Excel and Word.

You have strong organisational and time-management skills, enabling you to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.

You demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and a positive, proactive approach to your work.
