Summary

Job title: Bank Nurse Registered Nurse Location: Shipston-on-Stour office but care delivered in patients own homes (typically Shipston, Kineton, Wellesbourne, Bidford and neighbouring villages) Reports to: Head of Nursing Key Responsibilities Clinical These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the Clinical lead and/or the Duty Coordinator for the shift. Gains an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of patients requiring specialist palliative care and their families/carers. Ensures provision of appropriate clinical support to palliative care patients and their families/carers within their own homes. Documents and evaluates care given and discusses progress, condition and treatment with the Duty Coordinator alerting them of the patients changing health care needs. Complies with protocols and guidelines to deliver care as specified in the Charity's policies and procedures. Communicates effectively and liaises where appropriate with the District Nurses & Community Nursing Teams to receive and provide accurate and timely reports of any changes in the condition of the patient. Develops a positive, realistic and supportive attitude to ensure that the needs of the patient and their family/carers are met. Promotes a safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff. Reports to the Head of Nursing or, in her absence, one of the identified Nurse Coordinators. Professional Ensures own registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is aware and professionally accountable to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice. Ensures that a professional portfolio is kept and updated in accordance with NMC recommendations. Positively commits to staff appraisal, performance and clinical supervision to ensure personal professional development. Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and completion of training where relevant to the role. Actively participates in the support of new nurses. Acts at all times and to all people as an ambassador of Shipston Home Nursing. Adheres to all health and safety and fire regulations and to cooperate with the Charity in maintaining good standards of health and safety. Upholds ethical and professional standards and not behave in a manner that is likely to bring the Charity into disrepute. Promotes and sustains a responsible attitude towards equal opportunities and diversity within the Charity. Shipston Home Nursing Service operates a no-smoking policy. The post holder should either be a non-smoker or be prepared not to smoke anywhere when on Shipston Home Nursing Service business.
