Summary

Make a difference behind the scenes - support the volunteers who support our hospice

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at St Luke’s Hospice. From our retail teams to clinical support roles, volunteers help us deliver compassionate care and vital services across Sheffield.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Team Administrator to play a key part in ensuring every volunteer feels welcomed, supported, and able to contribute safely and meaningfully.

Reporting to the Volunteering Team Leader, you will provide high-quality administrative support across the full volunteer journey, from first enquiry through to onboarding, compliance, and ongoing engagement.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the engine behind the volunteer journey, making sure everything runs smoothly from first enquiry to active volunteering.

In short, you will:

Be the friendly first point of contact for volunteer enquiries

Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, checks and inductions

Keep volunteer records accurate and compliant

Support DBS processes, training records and reporting

Help organise work experience and placement opportunities

Contribute to volunteer communications, engagement and recognition

Provide vital admin support to the Volunteering Team

You’ll play a key role in ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, informed, safe and valued.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced in administration or coordination

Highly organised with great attention to detail

Confident using databases and managing records

Calm and capable of juggling multiple priorities

A strong communicator — warm, clear and professional

Compassionate and comfortable working in a hospice environment

Committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing

Experience in volunteering, charity, healthcare, recruitment or DBS processes would be a bonus — but not essential.

Why join St Luke’s?

At St Luke’s, you’ll be part of a supportive People Team, helping to create an inclusive, welcoming experience for the incredible volunteers who make our work possible.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a hospice charity with a strong community presence and a commitment to compassion, collaboration and continuous improvement.

We offer a great range of benefits, including generous annual leave, flexible working options, a competitive pension, wellbeing and counselling support, access to health cash plans, staff discounts in our shops, and opportunities for learning and development.
