Summary
Residential Support Worker required for a Criminal Justice Approved Premises supporting women returning to the community. This rewarding role involves safeguarding, rehabilitation, behaviour support and residential care within a structured, supportive environment.
ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE CONSIDERED
Ideally you have worked in a residential setting or have experience working within the criminal justice sector / criminal justice approved premises. However, we appreciate that not everyone can tick every single box, just so long as you are confident and are comfortable working with a diverse range of people from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, then this job could be for you.

WORKING HOURS: Shift pattern of 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off, rotating 2 x 08:00 - 20:00 and 2 x 20:00 - 08:00, 12 hours per shift
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Residential Support Worker within a Criminal Justice Approved Premises supporting up to 26 women transitioning from prison into the community.
As a Residential Support Worker you will provide structured living skills sessions, emotional support, safeguarding and behaviour management within a residential care setting focused on rehabilitation and independence.
Working as a Residential Support Worker you will promote safety, wellbeing and positive reintegration, maintaining clear boundaries while building professional, empathetic relationships in a supportive, all-women environment.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Residential Support Worker will include:
• Deliver Structured Activities: Facilitate daily living skills sessions, leisure and creative activities
• Provide Emotional Support: Support residents to address challenges and develop independence
• Induct New Residents: Assist with orientation, ensuring understanding of policies and expectations
• Maintain Safe Environment: Undertake regular inspections and maintain an active on-site presence
• Monitor And Report: Record key information and escalate safeguarding or welfare concerns
• Act As Fire Warden and First Aider: Fulfil designated safety responsibilities during shifts
• Maintain Accurate Records: Update documentation and computer-based systems in a timely manner
• Reinforce Boundaries: Exercise authority appropriately while promoting respect and dignity
• Work Independently: Manage responsibilities confidently and respond effectively to challenging situations
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential

• Good numeracy and literacy skills
• An understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults
• Ability to work alone and on own initiative
• Willingness to work shifts covering days, nights and weekends
• Empathetic approach with discretion when handling confidential information
Desirable
• Previous experience of working within a residential setting
• Previous experience of working with women
• Experience of working with groups or individuals in order to support, motivate and change behaviour
• An understanding of factors relating to multiple, compound needs
• Knowledge and experience of the work within the Criminal Justice System
