The role:

The University of Edinburgh Philosophy Department seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow to support teaching in the areas of Logic and Metaphysics. The post holder will contribute to the teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will contribute to the intellectual environment of the School.

Your skills and attributes for success:

A postgraduate degree in Philosophy with relevant post-graduate research and/or teaching experience (certificate in hand or has successfully defended VIVA prior to appointment).

Experience in design and delivery of effective undergraduate university teaching and supervision.

Research experience in Logic and/or Metaphysics

Proven ability to manage time and to work to strict deadlines.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.


This post is a full-time (35 hours per week), fixed term of 3 years. We have a preferred start date of August 2026, and please note on campus work is required (with hybrid arrangements possible on a non-contractual basis).
