Job Purpose

To lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the children's home, ensuring high-quality care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance. The Registered Manager is responsible for staff leadership, budget management, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Care & Support
  • Build positive relationships with children and young people.

  • Promote therapeutic practice, including PACE principles.

  • Ensure individual needs, education, health, and well-being are supported.

  • Oversee admissions, discharges, family contact, and care planning.

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and well-presented home environment.

Safeguarding & Compliance
  • Lead safeguarding practice and ensure all concerns are reported appropriately.

  • Oversee risk assessments and behaviour management plans.

  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

  • Maintain accurate records and notify authorities of serious incidents (Regulation 40).

Leadership & Staff Management
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management to staff.

  • Manage recruitment, training, appraisals, rotas, and staff welfare.

  • Promote professional development and high standards of practice.

  • Participate in on-call duties.

Finance & Administration
  • Manage and monitor the home's budget and expenditure.

  • Ensure effective record-keeping and implementation of the Statement of Purpose.

  • Liaise with external professionals and agencies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).

  • Strong knowledge of children's home regulations and safeguarding procedures.

  • Proven leadership experience within residential childcare.

  • Ability to work flexibly in line with service needs.
