Summary
The Blood Sciences Laboratory Manager plays a key senior leadership role in the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality diagnostic services within the Blood Sciences Laboratory. Reporting to the Directorate Manager, the postholder works in close partnership with the Service Clinical Lead and the Directorate Professional Lead as part of a clinically led leadership team. The role is accountable for the day-to-day operational management, performance, workforce, quality and financial delivery of Blood Sciences services, ensuring alignment with Trust priorities, regulatory requirements and agreed Directorate plans. The postholder will lead a large, multi-specialty service operating on a 24/7 basis, providing visible and credible leadership to the laboratory workforce. They will ensure that clinical priorities are translated into effective, resilient and sustainable operational delivery, while fostering a positive, inclusive culture aligned to Trust values. Direct experience of Blood Sciences is desirable but not essential. Structured clinical and professional leadership support will be in place, and applicants from a range of relevant senior operational or diagnostics backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
