I am a 67-year-old woman living independently in my own home and I am looking for a PA to support me with day-to-day living. I am very quiet, shy and nervous until I get to know someone well. My mobility is severely impaired, so I need significant assistance with daily tasks. I also experience short-term memory problems and suffer from severe anxiety. I enjoy spending time with my cats, as well as reading and watching television.

I am looking for a female, non-smoking PA due to health reasons. You must genuinely love cats, as helping with their care will be part of the role. The position will begin as holiday cover, with the potential to become a permanent role if we are both happy working together.

The role involves providing support with personal care, meal preparation, laundry including washing, drying and ironing, shopping both in-store and assisting with online orders, as well as hoovering, dusting and other light domestic tasks. Generally, you will be helping with anything I need support with in my day-to-day life. You will report directly to me and must ensure my safety and wellbeing at all times.

The successful applicant must be able to start at 8:00am on agreed days, which will be discussed between us.

A contract of employment will be provided, along with 5.6 weeks of paid leave.

Duties include:
- Moving and handling
- Other relevant duties as required
- Housekeeping
- Companionship
- Looking after pets
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Making bed
- Washing and ironing clothes and linen
- Helping employer maintain a good level of personal care
- Help transferring to the shower/bath
- Providing moral support and company
- Ensuring employer maintains a good diet
- Ensuring employer’s safety at all times
- Assisting with taking medication
- Driving employer to and accompanying on appointments, and shopping trips as required

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Must be comfortable with pets
- Be a cat lover
- Be able to understand my needs due to my anxiety
- Be punctual and flexible
- It is vital that you attend shifts punctually and commit to the times agreed. However, the employer is flexible. Should you be ill, the employer/employee needs as much notice as possible that you will be unable to work, so as to make the necessary arrangements to cover your shift. Annual leave must be made at least two weeks in advance.
- It is important that the suitable applicant should have common sense, a sense of humour, be reliable, trustworthy and respectful of confidentiality. You will be down to earth, easy going, empathic (not sympathetic), supportive and friendly. Most of all you will be patient.
- You should be able to perform all tasks on the job description with guidance where appropriate.

Additional requirements
- Non-smoker due to medical reasons
- Vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
