Summary

Technical Designer (Metal Ceiling Systems)

Reading (Hybrid, monthly travel to Kent Head Office)

£40,000 to £45,000 + Benefits Package

A new opportunity has arisen for a Technical Designer specialising in Metal Ceiling Systems to join an established specialist metal design and supply company delivering bespoke architectural metal solutions and ceiling systems for architecture and interior design projects.

The role involves producing accurate, compliant and buildable technical designs for bespoke metal ceiling systems.

The role will suit an experienced Technical Designer with strong working knowledge of metal ceiling system design. The company uses AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D.

You will work closely with sales, projects, manufacturing and supply chain teams. In the medium term, there is opportunity for career progression.

The Technical Designer Role:

• Produce coordinated 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including layouts, sections, details, schedules and interfaces for metal ceiling systems
• Interpret architectural, structural and MEP information to develop buildable, compliant ceiling solutions with clear tolerances and fixing strategies
• Prepare technical submittals, datasheets, installation guides and O&M documentation in line with company standards
• Maintain strict drawing standards, revision control and document management throughout the project lifecycle
• Participate in formal design reviews, support sales with proposal development and liaise with projects, manufacturing and supply chain
• Attend site surveys and coordination meetings with clients, architects and contractors
• Contribute to new product development

The Technical Designer:

• Experience in metal ceiling design using both 2D and 3D software
• Knowledge of metals, fabrication methods, fixings, tolerances and fire, acoustic and ventilation considerations
• Experience reading and coordinating architectural, structural and MEP drawings
