Summary
Job Advert
At Torus Group, our Legal Services team plays a vital role in supporting thriving communities and protecting the services we
provide to our customers. We are looking for a Junior Housing Management Solicitor to join our high-performing, collaborative
team, delivering responsive and innovative legal support across the Group.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor or someone working towards qualification who is passionate about social
housing and looking to develop their advocacy, case management and business partnering skills in a supportive, purpose-driven
environment.
The salary for this role is up to £43,601. A qualified solicitor is preferred; however, we would consider a part-qualified
candidate on a development plan. In this case, the starting salary would be slightly lower, with a structured progression to the
full salary on successful completion of the development plan.
Working pattern:
This is a hybrid role, primarily based at our Liverpool office, with regular travel to our St Helens and Warrington locations in
line with business needs. There is flexibility to work from home; however, core team days will be held in Liverpool on Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday. The role will also require occasional attendance at court hearings, so a flexible approach to travel and
working arrangements is essential. Travel to other offices may be required in line with business needs. Travel to your designated
base office is not claimable; however, mileage for travel beyond your base location will be reimbursed in line with company
policy.
What you will be doing:
* Managing a varied caseload including disrepair, rent arrears, nuisance, debt recovery and gas access injunctions
* Preparing cases and representing the organisation at court and tribunal hearings
* Working closely with housing and operational teams to provide practical, risk-based legal advice
* Supporting the supervision of junior team members on key workstreams
* Helping to identify legal and regulatory risks and implementing effective controls
* Delivering or contributing to training for colleagues to build legal knowledge across the business
* Building strong internal relationships to ensure a seamless, customer-focused service
* Supporting value for money through effective use of external legal providers and continuous process improvement
* Working to clear KPIs and contributing to the overall performance of the Legal Services team
What we are looking for
* A degree in Law or equivalent and a professional legal qualification recognised by the SRA (or working towards qualification)
* Experience of handling housing management legal work, including possession, disrepair, injunctions and ASB cases
* Confident preparing and presenting cases at court (excluding trials)
* A collaborative and proactive approach with the ability to build strong relationships across a large organisation
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines
* A genuine interest in social housing and supporting communities
* A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and to delivering excellent customer-focused services
* High levels of IT literacy and a flexible, positive approach to new ways of working
Interview Process:
* Candidates will be invited to in-person interviews, which will include a competency-based interview and a presentation. Full
details of the presentation brief will be provided once you are invited to interview. Interviews will take place on Monday
16th, Tuesday 17th, and Thursday 19th March 2026 at our Liverpool City Centre office.
Additional Information:
Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:
* Right to work verification
* Qualification certificate check
* 2x Completed references
* OH Health Questionnaire – Fit For Work
* DBS check (if required for role)
* Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&C’s
Please note, we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications.
