Summary
We are delighted to offer this opportunity to join the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Cardiology department. Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist (Interventionalist) with full training and accreditation.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of cardiac services within the region, with a well-established reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The Trust provides the range of secondary adult cardiac services across a large part of Hampshire, with hospitals situated in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover that are covered by our service. This post would ideally suit a talented and ambitious individual who would work alongside the other members of the Cardiology team.
This is an exciting new position to strengthen our cardiac team and bring new individual skills to our department within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In addition, the post comprises general cardiology commitments and contribution to the cardiology on callrota.
The successful candidate will provide consultant-led care across general and interventional cardiology, including the assessment and management of acute and elective cardiology patients. They will perform a full range of contemporary coronary interventions in our state-of-the-art catheter laboratories, with confidence in complex PCI including left main stem disease, bifurcation PCI (using both provisional and two-stent strategies where appropriate), and calcium modification techniques such as atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy, and cutting/scoring balloons. The postholder will contribute to multidisciplinary heart team discussions, support high-quality clinical governance through audit and quality improvement activity, and participate in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.
We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.
The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
