Summary

Join our team at Theatre Royal Plymouth as a Media & Communications Officer and play a key role in bringing our stories to life. In this dynamic, part-time fixed-term position, you’ll help shape and share the voice of TRP—working collaboratively to deliver impactful press coverage, engaging content, and creative campaigns that connect our programme with audiences, media and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented communicator with strong writing skills, creative flair and excellent organisational ability to support our communications objectives and champion our values of quality, creativity, collaboration and diversity.

Principal Responsibilities

Working collaboratively and in line with the business plan, deliver the communications objectives of Theatre Royal Plymouth
Use press and media coverage to reinforce TRP’s core messages and communications objectives.
Principal Tasks

Coordinate the press activity for the full Theatre Royal Plymouth programme, working with the Media & Communications Manager to promote allocated shows. Liaise with press contacts for upcoming shows, gather press assets for shows (images, press releases, syndicated interviews) and organise media opportunities and interviews
Develop, write and edit communication materials - including press releases, statements and reviews - to amplify TRP’s voice and year-round programme in local media outlets and on the TRP website
Ensure the press section on TRP’s website is continuously updated to reflect current press activity
Respond to media enquiries and proactively conduct journalist outreach to secure coverage in key publications
Hold the tracking of all TRP media coverage, including daily monitoring, monthly reporting and sharing with relevant internal and external contacts
Maintain relationships with key media contacts and continually look to build connections with further, relevant outlets including influencers
Facilitate the organisation and supervision of PR events, press moments, photocalls and campaigns
Work with the Media & Communications Manager to oversee the organisation and running of Theatre Royal Plymouth press nights
Coordinate press night invitations and box office allocations
Play a key role in the content collection and delivery of TRP’s internal communications
Assist in the delivery of stakeholder communication campaigns that engage staff, stakeholders and the public with TRP’s creative programme and strategic ambitions via the media and TRP’s channels
Manage TRP’s Flickr albums, ensuring show imagery is kept up to date in line with press announcements and is available to local press with relevant links
Keep Media & Communications Manager updated on activity and report any concerns or issues that might need additional support/resources
Undertake any additional work as required
