Crynodeb
To carry out electrical testing, fault finding, and remedial works in occupied and void social housing properties, ensuring installations comply with current electrical safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Testing & Inspection
Conduct EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports)
Perform periodic inspection & testing
Test consumer units, circuits, and accessories
Identify C1, C2, C3 observations
Ensure compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition)
Remedial Works
Rectify faults identified during EICRs
Replace faulty breakers, RCDs, RCBOs
Upgrade consumer units where required
Repair damaged wiring and accessories
Install bonding (gas/water)
Carry out partial rewires if necessary
Documentation & Compliance
Complete digital or paper certification
Record test results accurately
Ensure compliance with NICEIC/NAPIT standards (if applicable)
Adhere to health & safety procedures
Tenant Interaction
Work in occupied properties
Communicate clearly with tenants
Maintain professionalism and respect
Follow safeguarding procedures
Required Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing)
18th Edition (BS 7671)
ECS / JIB Gold Card
Full UK Driving Licence
Experience Required
Experience in domestic electrical testing
Previous social housing experience preferred
Strong fault-finding skills
Experience working in occupied properties
Typical Day
Attend 3-6 properties per day
Carry out EICR
Complete minor remedials same day where possible
Order materials for larger works
Update job sheets via tablet or job management system
