Role Overview

As our Chef, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional catering services tailored to the needs and preferences of our residents. You will be responsible for preparing and serving balanced, appetising meals that promote health and happiness. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive hourly rate of £17.16.

Key Responsibilities


Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of nutritious meals in line with dietary requirements and preferences of care home residents.
Ensure all dishes meet quality, presentation, and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations.
Manage kitchen operations efficiently, including stock control, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
Work collaboratively with care staff to accommodate special dietary needs such as allergies, diabetes, and religious requirements.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times.
Contribute to menu development by introducing variety and seasonal ingredients that enhance residents’ dining experience.
Supervise and support kitchen assistants, fostering a positive and productive team atmosphere.
Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Experience


Proven experience as a Chef within the catering and hospitality industry, ideally in a care home or similar setting.
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are desirable.
Strong knowledge of nutrition, food hygiene, and safety standards (e.g. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate).
Ability to prepare meals that meet special dietary requirements.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with residents, care staff, and suppliers.
A caring and patient approach, understanding the unique needs of elderly residents.
