Job Title: Exam InvigilatorContract: Casual by ClaimGrade 2 pt. 2 - £12.65 per hourClosing Date: Monday 9th March 10amGwernyfed High School is looking to expand its friendly and reliable team of Examinations Invigilators and welcomes applications from enthusiastic individuals who are keen to support pupils during key assessment periods.Examinations take place predominantly during May and June, with additional sessions in November, December and January. A number of invigilators are required for each examination, and we are therefore looking to recruit additional casual invigilators to join our team.This is an important and rewarding role that helps ensure examinations are conducted fairly, calmly and in accordance with awarding body regulations.Purpose of the roleThe purpose of the role is to supervise internal and external examinations, ensuring that all exams are carried out in strict accordance with regulations and providing a safe, fair and positive environment for students. The role works under the guidance of the Information Systems Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise candidates during examinations and maintain good order to prevent misconductPrepare examination rooms, including seating arrangements and signageEnsure candidates are seated correctly and appropriately equippedDistribute and collect examination papers securely and efficientlyCheck candidate identification and attendanceRead out examination instructions and provide time checks where requiredMonitor the progress of examinationsAct as a reader, scribe or prompt for students with approved access arrangements (if required)Respond appropriately to emergencies and report any irregularitiesEnsure examinations start and finish at the correct times and all materials are collectedPerson SpecificationThe successful candidate will be:Reliable, punctual and calm under pressurePatient, flexible and able to stand for periods of timeAlert and confident in dealing with a range of situationsAble to follow strict procedures with strong attention to detailA good communicator with a professional and friendly mannerA team player with empathy and a genuine desire to support pupilsGCSE English and Maths at grade C or above is essential. Previous experience is not required, as full training will be provided.Hours and PayCasual, as‑required positionExams are timetabled throughout the day, with most sessions being part‑dayPay rate: £12.65 per hourTraining and SafeguardingMandatory training is required (initial training session, with annual refresher updates)This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, in line with the school’s commitment to safeguarding children and young people. people.
