Summary

Are you an experienced data and insight professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a mission-led organisation?

Do you enjoy turning complex data into insight that drives better decisions, supports income generation, and improves customer or supporter experience? This is an opportunity to join the Science Museum Group as Senior Data and Insight Manager, playing a key role in shaping how data supports fundraising and partnerships across a national museum group.

This is a 12-month fixed-term role (maternity cover), offering the chance to make a real contribution in a strategic, collaborative environment.

About us

The Science Museum Group (SMG) is one of the world's leading science and culture organisations, inspiring millions of visitors each year. We care for nationally significant collections and deliver programmes that engage audiences across science, technology, engineering and media.

Our Fundraising & Partnerships team supports this work by building meaningful relationships with supporters, donors and partners, helping to secure vital income that enables our museums to thrive.

About the role

As Senior Data and Insight Manager, you will enable the Fundraising & Partnerships team to use data confidently, effectively and responsibly to drive income growth and deliver an excellent supporter experience.

You will lead on the development and use of our CRM system, Tessitura, ensuring robust data structures, high data quality and insightful reporting that supports data-led decision-making. You will design and embed systems and processes that allow colleagues to work efficiently, and you will provide training and guidance so teams can make the most of the data available to them.

Alongside this, you will play an important role in financial and compliance processes, including overseeing Gift Aid claims and ensuring fundraising activity meets all relevant regulatory requirements. You will also line-manage the Fundraising Income Manager and contribute as part of the senior Fundraising Operations team, working in close partnership with colleagues across the organisation.

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) with hybrid working available. The role is open to candidates based at any Science Museum Group site, with a requirement to work on-site at least two days per week and occasional travel to other museums.

About you

You will bring significant experience of working with CRM systems and using data to support strategic decision-making, ideally in a customer-focused, fundraising or sales environment. You are confident designing and improving data processes, producing clear and meaningful reports, and helping others develop their confidence in using data effectively.

You are an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder-management skills, able to build trust and influence colleagues at all levels. Organised and solutions-focused, you are comfortable managing competing priorities and solving complex problems, either independently or through supporting others.

You will also bring a collaborative, values-driven approach, and a commitment to working in an open and inclusive way.

Experience of fundraising data, financial processes, or regulatory frameworks such as GDPR would be welcome, but we encourage applications from candidates with transferable experience and a strong interest in applying their skills in a cultural or public-benefit context.

Not sure you meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway - your experience and perspective could be a great fit.
