Long Term Futures is partnering with a Croydon based primary school to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. The school is well-regarded for its inclusive approach and provides a supportive environment for staff and pupils alike, particularly within its specialist resource provision.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
- Work 1:1 or in small groups to deliver interventions designed to meet specific EHCP targets.
- Assist with the personal, social, and emotional development of pupils, ensuring they feel safe and included.
- Use visual aids and sensory tools (such as PECS or Makaton) to facilitate communication and learning.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and external therapists to monitor and record student progress.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, whether in a school, care, or personal setting.
- A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to learning.
- Basic knowledge of SEN strategies and a willingness to learn new techniques.
- Strong team-working skills and the ability to take initiative in the classroom.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
