Summary

Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker – Multiple Compound Needs Service

Make a real difference as a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker supporting survivors with multiple compound needs, including mental health, homelessness, substance misuse and offending behaviour, through residential support, safeguarding, risk management and trauma informed care.

SALARY: £29,000 per annum

LOCATION: Bexhill, East Sussex

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Average of 40.25 Hours per Week, working 4on / 4off shift pattern, 12 hours per shift, including 0.5 hours unpaid lunch break


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join a residential services team delivering high-quality support to survivors with complex and multiple compound needs.

As a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will work across a 12-bedroom refuge and within the community, providing trauma informed support, risk assessment, safeguarding and care planning to individuals affected by domestic abuse, mental health challenges and homelessness.

The Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker will deliver structured interventions, key-work sessions and outreach support, working collaboratively with housing, local authorities and multi-agency partners to promote safety, independence and secure accommodation.


DUTIES

Your duties as the Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:

• Risk and Needs Assessment: Complete comprehensive assessments to identify risk, safeguarding concerns and support requirements

• Care Planning: Develop and implement bespoke support and care plans promoting independence and rehabilitation

• Trauma Informed Support: Deliver structured interventions, group sessions and one-to-one key-work in a safe residential environment

• Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with local authorities, police, housing teams and voluntary agencies to coordinate effective support

• Housing and Benefits Support: Assist with enhanced housing benefit applications and support move-on into secure accommodation

• Safeguarding and Risk Management: Promote public protection and manage complex behaviours using appropriate de-escalation techniques

• Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe environment including building checks, incident reporting and record keeping in line with GDPR

• Practical and Emotional Support: Support residents with accessing services, completing paperwork and building life skills

• Outreach Support: Provide community-based and follow-on support to survivors transitioning from refuge services


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Previous experience working with survivors of domestic abuse or vulnerable adults with complex needs

• Comprehensive understanding of multiple compound needs including mental health, homelessness, substance misuse and offending behaviour

• Experience of working within residential care, community care or supported housing settings

• Proven experience of safeguarding, risk management and public protection practice

• Knowledge of the benefits system, particularly housing-related benefits

• Ability to work flexibly across evenings and weekends within a 24/7 service

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships

• Ability to produce clear documentation, maintain accurate records and complete incident reports

• Commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice

DESIRABLE

• Experience supporting women within a refuge or domestic abuse service

• Experience processing benefit claims

• Understanding of housing pathways for survivors

• First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain


This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the additional barred list check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre-employment process for any successful candidate.
