This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a full time Ward Clerk to work across Children's Assessment Unit and Children's Ward at Blackpool Teaching hospital. This post is for a full time, permanent contract working Monday - Friday. CAU and Children's ward is part of the Child Health & Development Directorate helping to support acutely unwell children of the surrounding area.
This is a service open 24 hours a day 7 days a week including bank holidays.
· Deliver efficient administrative and clerical services to the Ward Team.
· Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the ward, thereby enhancing patient care.
· Ensure all information is secure, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
· Provide excellent customer service, which may involve communicating with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy.
· Ensure the professional image of the Trust is upheld at all times.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

The postholder will be expected to provide clerical, administrative, and information technology support to medical, nursing, and other staff in relation to the patients within the department. Although primarily based in a specific area or ward, the postholder may be required to work in any part of the trust to cover short-term absences.
As part of this job role you will be expected to undertake a Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship.
Due to the current Government eligibility criteria for Government funded Apprenticeship schemes, we are currently only able to accept applications from candidates who have been resident in the UK for the for the last 3 years. We are unable to accept anybody who is currently on a funded programme.
An Initial Assessment, as part of the Apprenticeship enrolment process will be required to be completed to ascertain what level Numeracy, Literacy and ICT you are currently working at to ensure you are eligible to undertake an Apprenticeship programme. If you have already achieved English & Math’s at GCSE (Grade A-C/4-9) or Functional Skills Level 2, this can be transferred over, with evidence of achievement.
