Summary
Job Description
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control throughout the home, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff in line with CQC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Hygiene
* Clean residents’ rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, offices, and staff areas to agreed schedules and standards.
* Carry out deep cleaning as required.
* Ensure all cleaning equipment is used and stored safely.
* Follow colour-coded systems and COSHH regulations.
Infection Prevention & Control
* Adhere strictly to infection control procedures.
* Safely handle and dispose of clinical and general waste.
* Report any hazards, spillages, or maintenance concerns promptly.
Laundry Support (if required)
* Assist with washing, drying, ironing, and distribution of residents’ clothing and linens.
* Ensure residents’ personal items are handled respectfully and returned correctly.
Health & Safety
* Comply with Health & Safety legislation and Anchor policies.
* Use cleaning chemicals and machinery in accordance with COSHH guidance.
* Attend mandatory training including infection control and safeguarding.
Resident Interaction
* Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional approach with residents.
* Promote dignity, privacy, and independence at all times.
* Respond appropriately to residents’ requests and escalate concerns when necessary.
Person Specification
Essential
* Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience (care home experience desirable).
* Knowledge of infection control standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
Desirable
* Experience within a residential or nursing care environment.
* Basic understanding of CQC standards.
